Wisdom Wednesday: Circular Energy

aidangold.substack.com

I am fascinated by the concept of “circular energy”.

Circular energy happens when a group of people cultivate positive momentum for achieving the best version of themselves by feeding off each others energy.

My friend Zander mentioned that there was some circular energy happening in our friend group.

Here’s a real-life example of what he meant,

I had a coffee walk with my friend Alex. Afterwards, Alex feels inspired from our conversation and runs 10 miles.

Zander, then see’s that Alex ran 10 miles, and then goes and runs 15 miles himself. After Zander’s run, he talks to our friend Peter, and they decide to sign-up for a Half Ironman.

From a coffee conversation to a Half Ironman. That’s the power of circular energy.

Circular energy is a positive feedback loop throughout your social network.

What this means, is that every person in your social network can feel the positive momentum.

While the example I shared was fitness, the concept is meant to be applied to all categories of life.

Your friends may quit their job, move across the country or start their own business based on the momentum of circular energy.

If your friends create content or art — you may feel more inspired to create. If your friends push themselves working out — you will push yourself.

This is a powerful dynamic that you need to consciously optimize for.

One of the best things you can do for your life is to cultivate a group of friends, co-workers and family that have positive circular energy.
