Self-Confidence Creates Opportunities
Confidence comes from a Latin word 'fidere' which means "to trust".
Therefore, having self-confidence is having trust in one's self.
Most self-help books are centered around self-confidence.
Since confidence is not innate, learning to become more confident is a skill we can practice.
If you’re scared to do something, try doing small tasks to prove to yourself you’re capable. From there, you’ll build self-confidence and be on your way to your goal.
But why does confidence matter?
Confidence helps us feel ready for life's experiences.
When we're confident, we're more likely to move forward with people and opportunities.
Confidence is not all-encompassing: You can have high confidence in some areas and low confidence in others. It’s important to do an audit where we may need to up our confidence. With that said, too much confidence can come off as cockiness and lead to problems.
But without self-confidence, we may shy away from new opportunities.
