Producing a lot of content shows commitment to the craft
I think you need to do certain things 100 times before you can say you have started to do something. Specifically, as it relates to producing content.
You need to write 100 posts before you’ve really started writing.
You need to produce 100 YouTube videos, 100 podcasts, etc. before you’ve truly began producing the mediums of content.
I know you may be thinking why does quantity matter? Shouldn’t the quality of the work be the most important thing? And why this arbitrary 100 number?
I don’t disagree that quality is more important than quantity. I also agree that 100 is an arbitrary number that just felt right.
But what I do believe is that before you can produce true quality, you’ll need to produce a lot of content. Producing a lot of content shows your commitment to the craft and that you’re in this for the long haul.
While the quality of your content will please your users, the speed at which you can produce content will keep them coming back for more. If you don’t build the habit of producing a lot of content (i.e. 100 pieces), then maybe your still getting started on your journey.
I’ve written about 60 posts, so I am clearly still in the early stages of actually becoming a writer.
The way I see it, it won’t be until I’ve written over 100 posts and been doing it for over a year, will I be settled into my writing habit and have truly become a writer.
